Morgan Stanley Releases AI Capital Expenditure Report

On October 15, Morgan Stanley released an AI capital expenditure report. The report estimates that 91.7% of Nvidia's 2027 revenue will come from AI infrastructure demand, the highest share among the companies it covers, above Vertiv's 90% and Broadcom's 81%. The report projects that hyperscale cloud providers and AI cloud service providers will spend $1.58 trillion in 2027, with nearly $700 billion going to Nvidia, and that SpaceX and AWS together will account for about 54% of Nvidia's hyperscale customer revenue. The report also lists risks: 2027 will see the largest cash flow gap in the forecast period, U.S. data centers will face a 32-gigawatt power shortfall by 2028, and data center restrictions are also becoming a midterm election issue. There are currently no subsequent developments.

    Amazon Releases Data Center Commitment

On October 2, 2026, Amazon released the "Data Center Commitment" and called on the public to support AI data center projects. Amazon AWS CEO Matt Garman published a blog post of more than 3,000 words, warning that if localities pass data center bans, the United States could lose out in economic and national security competition; the blog stated that more than 100 data center bans are being considered across the country. The commitment proposes creating jobs, preventing local electricity price increases, and investing more than $1 billion to support communities around data centers. Amazon also said it will no longer sign confidentiality agreements with government agencies; previously, Democratic lawmaker Jamie Raskin had launched an investigation into secret agreements between tech companies and local officials.
