Morgan Stanley says Nvidia will depend on AI infrastructure spending for 91.7% of its 2027 revenue

A report released by Morgan Stanley on October 15 estimates that 91.7% of Nvidia's 2027 revenue will come from AI infrastructure demand, the highest share among the companies it covers, above Vertiv's 90% and Broadcom's 81%. The report projects that hyperscale cloud providers and AI cloud service providers will spend $1.58 trillion in 2027, with nearly $700 billion flowing to Nvidia, while SpaceX and AWS together account for about 54% of Nvidia's hyperscale customer revenue. The report also lists risks: 2027 will see the largest cash flow gap in the forecast period, U.S. data centers will face a 32-gigawatt power shortfall by 2028, and data center restrictions have also become a midterm election issue.

Data centers should not be demonized for the wrong reasons—but they should be held to a higher standard

Adhum Carter Wolde-Lule, Chief Strategy Officer at Prism Power Group, argues that the backlash against data centers is aimed at the wrong target: UN Food and Agriculture Organization data shows agriculture accounts for about 72% of global freshwater withdrawals, while UK data centers account for only about 0.2% of non-household water use. He calls on the industry to disclose water and energy consumption data, design cooling solutions based on site location, set clear timelines for grid connection and backup generators, and rebuild community trust through site-by-site public reporting.

World launches iris-scan verification solution to prevent deepfakes in Zoom meetings

World, co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has launched the World ID identity verification solution, which can display a blue badge in Zoom meetings to prove that the other party is a real person rather than a deepfake. Users must first scan their iris with a football-sized Orb device, after which verification is completed by comparing it with encrypted Orb data via a smartphone camera and app. World ID offers three verification tiers: the lowest tier, Proof of Attributes, verifies identity using official documents; Proof of Presence requires a selfie; and the highest tier, Proof of Human, requires using the World App to compare biometric features against a selfie captured with the Orb. World says the protocol is based on open-source code, uses blockchain to achieve data decentralization and encryption, and that several banks and financial services institutions have already introduced the tool in their work environments.
