AI summary

OpenAI plans to merge the Chat and Work tabs in ChatGPT, integrating everyday conversation and complex task handling into a single interface, while Codex, which is oriented toward programming tasks, will retain an independent entry point. After the adjustment, users will be able to move from Q&A to multi-step tasks without switching modes, and within the same conversation call files and plugins, view task progress, and intervene; OpenAI plans to first open testing to some users and then gradually expand the scope. Phoenix Tech News, November 3 — According to TechCrunch, OpenAI plans to merge the Chat and Work tabs in ChatGPT, integrating everyday conversation and complex task-handling capabilities into a single interface; Codex, which is oriented toward programming tasks, will remain as a separate entry point.

After the adjustment, users will be able to move from everyday Q&A into multi-step tasks without switching modes, and to call files and plugins within the same conversation, letting ChatGPT build websites, create presentations, or perform web operations, while viewing task progress and intervening. OpenAI plans to first open testing to some users, then gradually expand the scope.

Thibault Sottiaux, a relevant OpenAI executive, said on a social platform that the team is advancing the integration of Chat and Work capabilities, but it has not yet been officially rolled out, and more information will be announced later.

Usage rules will also be adjusted accordingly. OpenAI's Help Center shows that starting in December, ChatGPT and Codex usage for Plus, Pro, and Business users will be calculated together and uniformly measured in Tokens; ordinary instant chat will not count toward that usage. Users can view remaining usage and reset time on the settings page. (Author/Song Shumei)
