Sam Altman: Energy Consumption per AI Query Has Fallen a Thousandfold in Three to Four Years
Speaking at the opening ceremony of ADIPEC in Abu Dhabi, Sam Altman said that the energy consumption of a single AI query has dropped by a factor of 1,000 to 100,000 over the past 3 to 4 years. He said the improvement in energy efficiency is extremely significant, and that it may now be thousands or even hundreds of thousands of times more efficient than three or four years ago.
