AI code testing startup Blacksmith reaches $1 billion valuation as AI-generated code surges

AI code testing infrastructure startup Blacksmith has reached a $1 billion valuation following a $66 million Series C funding round led by Sequoia Capital, just about two months after its $45 million Series B round. More than 10,000 companies currently use Blacksmith's platform, which runs 90 million verification checks per week, up from 5 million at the start of the year, while annual recurring revenue grew 17-fold over the same period. CEO Aditya Jayaprakash said most of the new funding will go toward purchasing more compute, and the company plans to grow its staff from about 40 to about 75 by the end of the year.

Nvidia unveils DSX POD containerized AI factory reference design

Nvidia announced the DSX POD reference design at GTC Berlin, enabling partners to install Vera Rubin racks, networking, and liquid cooling into containers at the factory before delivery. Each container holds 7 Vera Rubin NVL72 racks, totaling 504 Rubin GPUs, and comes pre-installed with about 20 kilometers of copper cable and 17 kilometers of scale-out networking, weighing about 28 tons; as long as the site already has power, cooling, and networking in place, it can start producing tokens in as little as 14 days. Nvidia says the system's cooling uses no water, Vera Rubin can run on 45 degrees Celsius coolant, and at a 2-gigawatt deployment, dry coolers can save about 54 million liters of water per day compared with cooling towers. Partners will begin global deliveries in early 2027.

NVIDIA GTC Berlin 2026 announces 12 releases, covering AI factories, telecommunications, and enterprise agents

At GTC 2026 in Berlin, NVIDIA announced 12 releases, covering AI factory deployment, semiconductor manufacturing expansion, telecom AI-RAN, enterprise agents, robotics and autonomous driving, as well as new open models for enterprise data, protein design, and quantum computing. On the infrastructure side, the DSX POD modular AI factory reference design is said to shorten deployment time from six months to as little as 14 days, and DSX MaxLPS is said to deliver equivalent AI compute using up to 30% less power, with partners planning to deliver in early 2027. On the telecom side, T-Mobile completed what it calls the world's first AI-RAN call on a commercial network in Bellevue, Washington, with NVIDIA and Nokia, and Elisa completed Europe's first AI-RAN field trial; on the enterprise side, it expanded the open-source Agent Toolkit and introduced the OpenShell reference architecture for monitoring and restricting agent behavior.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security requires federal civilian agencies to remove DeepSeek

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has ordered federal civilian agencies to immediately stop procuring DeepSeek products and services and to remove them from government information technology systems; the order applies to civilian executive branch agencies, excludes national security systems, and does not restrict public use of DeepSeek. DHS says the DeepSeek model has multiple threat vectors, with reasons including servers located in China, account registration collecting personally identifiable information, multiple critical vulnerabilities found in the iOS app, and prompt interactions potentially allowing sensitive data to leak out. China's Ministry of Commerce responded that it consistently opposes over-broadening the concept of national security and politicizing science, technology and trade issues, and stated it will take all necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.

India needs to build a robotics AI "brain" rather than only importing hardware

US company Avathon has established a Physical AI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru, with about 150 employees, and has partnered with IIT Roorkee to build a Physical AI research laboratory, planning to fund about 5 PhDs in the first year and potentially support 30–40 per year in the future. Avathon focuses on building an intelligence layer for industrial scenarios that coordinates multiple robots, humanoid robots, and drones, rather than manufacturing robot bodies. CEO Pervinder Johar believes that India cannot rely on AI talent alone and needs both manufacturing and computer science capabilities.
