法院表示，被告没有对相关指控作出回应，原告因此缺席胜诉，也就是说这处提示词注入其实最终没有起到作用。即便如此，法院认定该行为“有损司法尊严”。法院认为，原告并不熟悉法律专业细节，也接触不到这份文件，不可能私自修改诉状，因此全部责任由签署诉状的两名律师承担，对二人处以涉案赔偿金额 10% 的罚款，罚金约 1.6 万美元（IT之家注：现汇率约合 10.7 万元人民币）。二人同时被通报至州律师协会以及地区劳动法院内务部门。
这并非案件当事人第一次试图利用提示词注入影响法院的人工智能系统。此前就有一名原告在提交材料中嵌入了一段较长的隐藏提示词，法院书记员发现文档排版间距异常后才查出问题。由于当事人不是执业律师，当时法院从轻处理，但要求该当事人此后必须线下提交纸质材料。还有一名州法官被诉至联邦法院，指控她借助人工智能直接生成完整判决书，不过联邦法院裁定法官享有“司法豁免权”，相关行为不可被起诉。
