LG CNS has completed an artificial intelligence (AI) data center in Indonesia, just over a year after winning a 100 billion won contract for the project. The company also secured customers for 100% of the facility's capacity before completion.

LG CNS announced on Nov. 2 that it had completed construction of a hyperscale AI data center in Jakarta, Indonesia, with a power intake capacity of 30 megawatts (MW).

The project was commissioned by KMG, a joint venture between Indonesia's Sinar Mas Group and Korea Investment Real Asset Management. LG CNS was responsible for building core infrastructure, including power, cooling and communications systems.

The 11-story data center has a total floor area of 46,281 square meters and is designed to accommodate more than 100,000 servers. It adopts a hybrid cooling architecture combining air and liquid cooling to address heat generated by high-performance graphics processing unit (GPU) servers.

The first phase uses an air-cooling system, while liquid cooling will be added in subsequent phases. LG CNS also installed power infrastructure capable of supporting high-density server environments exceeding 300 kilowatts (kW) per rack. The facility incorporates infrastructure redundancy, including backup power systems, to prepare for power supply interruptions.

The project also employed the "One LG" strategy, combining technologies from LG Group affiliates. LG CNS oversaw data center construction, while LG Electronics supplied heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and LG Energy Solution provided battery solutions.

LG CNS is currently designing the next phases of construction. Once the additional projects are completed, the data center's total power intake capacity is expected to expand to 400MW.

The project marks the culmination of LG CNS's multiyear efforts to enter the Indonesian market. In September 2024, the company established a joint venture, LG Sinar Mas Technology Solutions, with local conglomerate Sinar Mas Group. It signed a data center consulting and design contract with KMG that same year, laying the groundwork for winning the 100 billion won main construction contract in August 2025.

LG CNS initially announced a long-term expansion plan targeting 220MW. In its latest completion announcement, the company raised the target capacity to 400MW, including subsequent development phases.

LG CNS plans to use its Indonesian operations as a foundation for pursuing new projects in Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Japan.
