Google DeepMind report: AGI's economic impact depends on multi-agent coordination capability

The Google DeepMind report "The Economics of Intelligence: How and When Will AGI Trigger Economic Transformation?" divides economic regimes into four types—Minimal AGI, Supercompetent AI, Supercooperative AI, and ASI—along two dimensions: "professional competence" and "coordination capability." Current frontier models have approached or surpassed human experts on vertical tasks, but their multi-agent coordination capability remains weak, corresponding to leaner startups, flatter hierarchies, and rising demand for senior coordinating managers. The report argues that measuring when AI triggers disruptive economic transformation cannot rely solely on single-agent benchmark scores, but rather on when multi-agent coordination capability in long-chain, large-scale organizations approaches a critical threshold.

Open-source typing game Keyboard Island adds a new Sentence Post Office module

Shao Meng has released an updated version of Keyboard Island, an open-source keyboard typing game he made for his child, adding a new sentence-typing module called "Sentence Post Office." This module requires capitalizing the first letter, adding spaces between words, and writing a period at the end of the sentence; if any one of these is missing, it prompts that the user cannot continue, in order to reinforce children's typing and writing habits. The project has been updated at the original open-source address.

Rohan Paul comments on the gap between the AI frontier and the general public

Rohan Paul cited Aaron Levie's view, saying that the gap between those currently working at the AI frontier and everyone else is almost incomprehensible, and that this gap curve is not converging but instead continuously widening. Levie believes the AI progress curve is nearly vertical, that processes solidified 3-6 months ago may already be outdated, and that AI-native companies therefore hold a clear advantage.

It’s almost incomprehensible how wide the distance is between someone who’s working at the frontier with AI and basically everyone else right now. The crazy thing is these lines are not converging, but only growing farther apart. If the curve of AI progress had leveled off, it would certainly have given most people and companies time to catch up or implement their workflows in a standardized way. The technology would have neutralized competitive advantage because everyone would be using it the same way. But what’s happened is the opposite. The curve of AI progress is basically going vertical right now, which means if you had codified your processes 3-6 months ago you’re likely already behind again. Now imagine most companies that kicked into gear a year ago and thought that they were done. Even further behind now. I’ve never seen a technology in my life and career that improves at this rate, which consequently means you need to upgrade your expectations at a similar rate. Our brains weren’t wired for this, and our organizational change management processes certainly weren’t either. With any form of recursive self improvement, things just get wilder. It’s a time when you will need to be constantly reevaluating the things that didn’t work just a couple months ago to see if they now can be solved. AI native companies certainly have a strong advantage due to this right now, so now it comes down to can the bigger companies keep up. Wild times.

Reddit will require login by default; Google Search referrals drop by over 1 million in a single week

Reddit will make login the default, after Google Search referrals dropped by more than 1 million in a single week in October. In Q2, 30.1M of the 53.2M daily active users in the US browsed without logging in; in Q3, US daily active users fell to 50.7M, and Reddit also warned that daily active users could decline by a low double-digit percentage next quarter. Reddit says logged-in users are worth about 3 times as much in advertising value as logged-out visitors, and the login wall also makes scraping harder, pushing AI companies toward paid data partnerships.

The Boundaries of Bank AI Applications: Non-Customer-Facing Scenarios First, High-Risk Decisions Still Left to Humans

Jiemian News reviewed the AI implementation situation at several banks; non-customer-facing scenarios such as intelligent customer service, marketing recommendations, risk warnings, and operational efficiency improvements remain areas that are relatively easy to scale. Ping An Bank's third-quarter report disclosed that by the end of September, it had cumulatively implemented more than 500 large-model application scenarios, launched 164 operational review Agent covering 67 business scenarios, and increased average operational work efficiency by about 57%. Multiple banking industry figures said banks are layering AI according to business risk: low-risk scenarios can be more automated, while high-risk businesses have humans make the final decision. The "Opinions" issued by the National Financial Regulatory Administration on June 18 explicitly set out "whoever uses it is responsible" and classified and tiered management.

Qwenputer Arrives: Packing the RISC-V CPU Instruction Set into a Model, AI Arithmetic No Longer Relies on External Tools

Developer Divyansh Agrawal released the experimental model Qwenputer on October 22. Built on Alibaba's Qwen3.5-4B, it implements a 32-bit RISC-V CPU and memory functions inside the model, enabling it to execute programs and perform precise calculations without calling external tools. In tests, large-integer multiplication accuracy rose from 55% to 97.5%, and the long-integer arithmetic benchmark NUPA reached 100%, compared with only 48.6% for the standard version. The cost is that the model size grows to about 18.8GB, each instruction requires generating multiple tokens and thus takes several seconds, and a dedicated driver is needed. The project has been open-sourced on Hugging Face and GitHub.

Anthropic study: experts adopt AI preferences in analytical decisions at a rate of 86%

In Anthropic's latest study, 50 causal inference experts made analytical decisions in a fictional agricultural cooperative policy evaluation, and the rate at which experts adopted AI preferences reached 86%, far exceeding the 50% expected from random choice. Even when they had already formed a judgment beforehand, after the AI gave an opposing opinion, the likelihood that experts changed their position was 53 percentage points higher than when the AI agreed with them, and research experience, self-rated expertise, educational background, and trust in AI all failed to reliably reduce this influence. In a post-task survey, 52% of participants believed the final recommendation was more like their own view, and 77% reused at least one of the AI's arguments when explaining it, but only 15% explicitly mentioned AI; among participants who used AI, the median time spent fell from 90 minutes to 65 minutes, and the proportion of serious flaws fell from 55% to 6%.

Tsinghua, Infinigence AI, and AgiBot propose the CEL collective experience learning paradigm, with a 97.5% success rate verified on a 96-robot cluster

Tsinghua University, Infinigence AI, and AgiBot jointly propose a new paradigm called Collective Experience Learning (CEL), which enables robots to reuse the experience of their peers rather than relying on manual teaching, and have completed large-scale validation on a cluster of 96 real robots. Two robots that did not participate in training completed a total of 600 tests with 15 failures, for an overall success rate of 97.5%; on all five tasks—flower arranging, clothes folding, phone charging, stool assembly, and phone packaging—the success rate exceeded the average level of 6 human operators. At the system level, they built the fault-tolerant asynchronous training system FATS based on RLinf; in the 96-robot scale test, a cumulative 9,834 rounds of execution experience were collected, 22 robots experienced 30 failures, and machine-time loss accounted for only 1.3%. At the algorithm level, they propose the failure-guided experience retrieval fine-tuning algorithm FERT, which uses both successful and failed experience to locate error-prone steps. The hardware is the AgiBot G2 dual-arm robot, and the base model is π0.

Google proposes a sleep framework that lets large models learn while in use without forgetting old knowledge

On October 27, Google's research team publicly released a continual learning study called the Sleep Framework, with the paper titled "Language Models Need Sleep: Learning to Self-Modify and Consolidate Memories." The framework divides model operation into an awake phase and a sleep phase. During the sleep phase, short-term context is written into long-term parameters through parameter expansion, mixture-of-experts memory blocks, and knowledge distillation, and reasoning and generalization are improved through a dreaming step that generates synthetic samples. Experiments show that the model can handle contexts of up to about 10 million tokens, maintains near-zero performance degradation in multi-stage continual learning on unseen languages, and achieves higher accuracy on mathematical benchmarks such as AIME 24/25.

PSI claims its AI system has cracked 5 open quantum problems

Physical Superintelligence (PSI), founded less than two months ago, claims that its self-developed AI research system Emmy has achieved results on 5 open problems in quantum information theory, with the paper, Lean formal proofs, and verification code published on GitHub for review. These 5 problems come from the open quantum problems catalog established by German physicist Reinhard Werner in 1999, spanning five directions: entanglement purification, quantum field theory, high-dimensional quantum communication, quantum channel capacity, and quantum causality, among which OQP 2, OQP 12, and OQP 27 were included as early as the beginning of this century. Emmy decomposes difficult problems into verifiable mathematical sub-hypotheses, then hands them to the Lean formal proof assistant, symbolic computation engines, and high-precision verification code for screening; a result is only deemed established once compilation passes. PSI emerged in September this year and has completed a $58 million seed round led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures.
